This position is to be responsible for the Mechanical and Civil Engineering laboratories, including lab budget, supervision of all other lab directors in Mechanical and Civil Engineering, assistants and graders, preparing lecture demonstrations, curriculum development, safety training of students, equipment maintenance, oversight and advising of student senior design projects, including multi-disciplinary cross-campus senior design projects, multi-disciplinary student competition projects, solicitation of funds in support of student projects, and lab inventory. Teaching of lecture courses may be assigned at the direction of the department head. This person will perform lab equipment and instrumentation setup and operation and oversee the machine shop activities. In all aspects of the job, attention to a clean and sanitized work place is required. It is also expected that this person will be teaching summer school courses (for additional compensation) as needed.
B.S. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and an M.S. in an engineering field. Experience in oversight of or actual use of machine shop tools.
Teaching engineering science labs that include using laboratory equipment, digital data collection, routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment, tracking and purchasing lab consumables, and creation and/oversight of maintenance of written lab procedure documentation.
Teaching labs at the college level. Experience in manual and/or CNC machine tool operation. Ability to obtain or have a PE license within 2 years.
