Description
Overview:
We are looking for a skilled engineer to design and implement control systems for custom machinery used in high-volume automotive manufacturing environments. This role involves full-cycle development—from initial concept through final deployment—of automation solutions that meet performance, safety, and cost objectives.
Travel for this position is minimal
Shift: Day shift
Compensation: highly competitive base salary with over-time and double-time pay eligibility.
Primary Responsibilities:
-Develop and configure control architectures that align with internal standards and client requirements, optimizing for cost-efficiency and engineering effort.
-Create electrical layouts and component arrangements that prioritize space efficiency, safety, reliability, and simplicity.
-Write and test PLC and HMI programs to ensure seamless machine operation with integrated safety protocols.
-Collaborate with internal and external design teams to ensure timely delivery of accurate technical documentation and specifications.
-Facilitate design reviews with mechanical engineering leads and project coordinators prior to machine assembly.
-Prepare and submit all required documentation for customer approval according to project timelines.
-Maintain organized records of procurement, design approvals, and project milestones.
-Source competitive quotes for control hardware and issue requisitions with attention to lead times and project schedules.
-Partner with shop technicians during machine assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting, and final validation.
-Assist field service and training teams during customer site installations.
-Provide technical input to sales and aftermarket support teams as needed.
-Participate in project planning and status meetings.
-Stay informed on emerging technologies and recommend innovations that enhance machine performance and design.
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in electrical, controls or automation engineering.
-2–3 years of experience in industrial automation or machine tool development; automotive or powertrain exposure preferred.
-Proficiency in PLC platforms such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Fanuc; experience with SolidWorks and HMI development tools.
-Familiarity with EPlan or similar electrical design software is advantageous.
-Strong command of Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems.
-Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and propose actionable solutions.
-Self-driven with excellent organizational and time management skills.
-Effective communicator with strong verbal and written abilities.
-Willingness to work hands-on in both manufacturing and customer environments, including travel as required.
