SALARY: $19.71 - $30.77 Hourly $41,000.00 - $64,000.00 Annually OPENING DATE: 01/25/19 CLOSING DATE: Continuous DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a wide range of routine to moderately complex electrical work in the maintenance and repair of City water treatment and collection facilities. Employees in this classification function at front line level, and are accountable for infrared predictive maintenance to foresee failure of critical electrical components. Routine tasks are performed with some independence, and more difficult work is performed under direct supervision. Objective is to perform field maintenance of lift stations and other water plant electrical infrastructure on a daily basis. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Performs a variety of journey level electrician work in maintaining City's facilities, including lift stations and water plant infrastructure.
Responsible for diagnosing, installing, maintaining, repairing and replacing electrical parts, equipment, motors and electrical systems.
Troubleshoots a variety of utilities electrical equipment/system problems to identify the problem and extent of the maintenance/repair problem and recommend preventative measures.
Performs a variety of routine electrical maintenance and repairs to maintain facilities/equipment in operating condition and to ensure electrical service is not interrupted.
Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on a variety of electrical equipment/systems in order to identify potential problems to minimize emergency repairs and maximize the useful life of electrical equipment.
Performs journey-level electrical work on utilities facilities, including lift stations, water wells, water plants.
Diagnose and repair malfunctions in electrical equipment or control systems such as lift stations, water wells, water plants, motors, generators. Estimates/determines materials, supplies, equipment and time needed to complete assigned electrical work. Reviews blueprints, electrical schematics, project plans and specifications of electrical equipment installations. Ensures all work is performed in compliance with all current applicable electric codes, standards and regulatory requirements. Operates manual electrical and specialized tools, e.g. voltmeters, ampmeters, circuit tracer, rotation meters, etc. Performs Infrared Predictive Maintenance to foresee failure of critical electrical equipment components. TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED; two (2) years' work experience or equivalent combination Licensed Master Industrial Electrician Licensed journeyman electrician SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.
