Fair Dermody Consulting Engineers is looking for a summer intern to assist with railroad bridge inspection and railroad bridge rehabilitation design projects. The ideal candidate would be a potential full time hire. We are a small engineering firm looking to grow to meet our client's increasing demand.
Work will be performed in both field and office settings. Travelling and overnight stays up to 6 consecutive nights are required. The candidate can expect to travel 3-4 weeks over the course of the summer to assist with bridge inspections in western Pennsylvania. Office work will consist of, but is not limited to, preparing bridge inspection reports and drafting bridge repair plans in AutoCAD.

Working towards BS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
Desire to obtain E.I. and P.E.
Coursework in Steel and Reinforced Concrete
Prestressed Concrete and Timber a plus
Bridge design a plus
Experience with AutoCAD LT
Able to perform physical strenuous work
Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
Able to lift and carry objects weight up to 25 lbs
Ability to work at heights
Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary
