Wood has an opportunity for a Senior Health Physics Technician / Field Lead who has experience in radiological characterization, environmental remediation, Final Status Surveys, and radiation protection to join our team in Grand Junction, CO.

Wood provides radiological services and expertise to a wide range of commercial and government clients. Field work may include TENORM site investigations, radiological characterizations, remedial action oversight, and FSS. The Wood Radiological Services and Engineering office maintains NRC and California radioactive materials service providers licenses.

Key Responsibilities

• Will assist in the development of planning documents, including radiological characterization work plans, Final Status Survey (FSS) Plans, and remediation plans
• Lead field teams in the collection of radiological data at client sites
• Selects appropriate radiological instruments for field use
• Manage, analyze, review, and interpret radiological data and information
• Draft reports to document field activities
• Must be able to maintain data integrity, quality control, and field document management
• May be assigned as Site Radiation Safety Officer on projects under the NRC or California radioactive materials license
• Effectively communicates with customers (both internal and external), regulators, project management and field staff
• Will travel to project sites in the US and Canada - Some projects may involve travel for a couple days and other projects for up to a couple months - Approximately 50% to 70% overnight travel

Skills / Qualifications*

• Minimum of 5 years of directly relevant and increasingly advancing experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent, AS or BS degree preferred
• NRRPT preferred
• Experience implementing and applying MARSSIM
• Understanding of U.S. NRC, U.S. DOE, U.S.ACE and Agreement State regulations
• 40 Hr HAZWOPER
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work alone and with a team
• Ability to write and prepare reports and documentation
• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
• Ability and willingness to travel to project sites in the US and Canada - Some projects may involve travel for a couple days and other projects for up to a couple months - Approximately 50% to 70% overnight travel
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy
