ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER JOB SUMMARY
This position prepares plans, specifications, and estimates in connection with the design and construction of industrial engineering projects with emphasis on power studies, power distribution, generators, EV charging stations, and other industrial applications. The successful candidate will work under the direction and supervision of a Project Manager or more Senior Engineer.
ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER JOB DUTIES
Designs and prepares plans, specifications, and estimates of probable construction costs for a variety of electrical engineering projects.
Creating electrical drawing sets, with the help of the project manager or electrical engineer and designers.
Performs electrical calculations and studies for power projects, i.e. voltage drop, fault current, arc flash, load studies, etc.
Coordinates with clients, vendors, material suppliers, and contractors to obtain information and make appropriate electrical equipment selections and prepares specifications.
Provides construction support activities such as field observations, answering request for information (RFI), and reviewing contractor submittals and reports.
Works closely with other engineering practices and project managers, informing them of work progress, problems, and questions.
Assists in the preparation of proposals.
Requirements
Must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college with a concentration in power preferred.
2 - 5 years of experience in power design.
EIT certification required.
Must be knowledgeable in NEC (National Electrical Code).
Must have low voltage design experience (1,000 volts and below). Medium voltage experience is a plus.
Experience with SKM or ETAP electrical modeling and design software a plus.
Working knowledge in AutoCAD.
Be able to communicate and coordinate effectively as part of a team.
