Cloud Solutions and Automation Engineer
Health Sciences IT (HSIT) is seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Solutions and Automation Engineer to join our team. The HSIT research team provides support for the six schools of the health sciences. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, configuration, and maintenance of cloud environments (AWS and Azure) to support a variety of health science research projects, ranging from basic science to clinical trials. The candidate must be comfortable working in both Linux and Windows environments and have experience deploying containers in container services in both clouds.
Job Summary
Installs, configures, and maintains systems and associated infrastructure at the enterprise level. Assists in designing architecture and planning deployment of complex servers and associated infrastructure. Evaluates and recommends effective tools for system and infrastructure maintenance and support. Architects and evaluates system enhancements to be implemented and serves as escalation and a top-tier point of contact for complex installation and upgrades.
Essential Functions
• Design, configure, maintain, and document services in cloud environments (AWS and Azure).
• Identify the best cloud solutions for various health science research projects.
• Deploy containers, container services, and registries in both clouds.
• Understand networking components in both clouds and container services.
• Support on-prem servers, containers, and file shares in a VCenter environment.
• Write automation scripts and adopt an infrastructure-as-code mindset.
• Experience with CFTs and Bicep or similar deployment scripting languages.
• Communicate effectively with study teams.
• Serve as the expert on cloud-related questions.
• Deploy web applications in both clouds and utilize associated services.
• Keep security top of mind as we deal with sensitive data and work closely with the University Security team.
Physical Effort
Light, Little physical effort. Duties are primarily Sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
