Homes for All AmeriCorps program provides the perfect opportunity to gain resume-boosting skills while helping families and households secure and maintain safe, healthy, affordable housing. An AmeriCorps position can also work as a practicum placement.
Paducah Alliance of Neighbors is seeking a member in a Housing Services position who can provide homeless services such as case management, housing navigation, and homelessness prevention.
AmeriCorps members commit to a one-year term of service beginning in August and serve 1700 hours by July 31st, 2026. Members receive a living allowance of $20,400, money for college or student loans in the amount of $7,395, health insurance, childcare assistance (if income eligible), loan forbearance, student loan interest payments, training, and professional and personal development.
Activities:
Project Coordination (40%): Home visits, project plans, scope of work, sweat equity oversight, volunteers, etc.
Repair or Rehab Construction (25%): repair of roofs, windows, drywall, second safe exits, etc.
Intake and Assessment (15%): complete intake process with new clients to assess homeownership or home repair
eligibility and make referrals when appropriate for additional services (e.g., credit counseling).
New Home Construction (10%): construct framing, roofing, flooring, drywall, painting, etc.
Desired Skills:
- Thorough and organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work as a member of a team, meet deadlines, and plan work.
- Strong aptitude and some hands-on experience in construction is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate with and train commmunity-based volunteers, youth volunteers, halfway house inmate community service workers, and low- and moderate-income homeowner clients.
- Should be comfortable with telephone, mail, email, Facebook, website, and public speaking as modes of communication.
- Ability to create and edit documents in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to create and edit plans in Revvit, Sketchup, or similar programs are a bonus.

Other Information:
- 1200 hours to be served by the individual by July 31st, 2026
- The daily schedule is agreed upon between member and site supervisor
- Some overnight travel and stays for training and service projects required

Requirements
Willingness to provide information to complete and undergo a National Service Criminal History Check
Be at least 17 years of age at the start of service
High school diploma or GED
Citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
Willingness to travel periodically
Reliable transportation, driver's license, and good driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; standing for long periods of time; seeing; sitting; bending; use of hands; driving (and good driving record).
