POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a Design Engineer III. This position will work with the engineering team and will ensure the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole and will lead and direct the work of the team to accomplish department goals and fulfill customer needs. This individual will work both independently as well as part of the larger engineering team. Tasks will include the development of aircraft structural layouts and the design of individual components, assemblies, and installations. Engineering materials will include metals, nonmetals, and composite structural materials. Tasking may also include design and integration of aircraft mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, environmental control systems and a variety of other equipment and systems as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Design Engineer III will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complex tasks in the following areas:
- Applies standard engineering practices and techniques, including innovative methodologies, to provide effective solutions to problems involving a wide number of variables.
- Review and understand customer's Statement of Work (SOW), technical specifications, Interface Control Drawings, schedules and budgets.
- Create/compile technical documentation that supports evolving/changing designs.
- Able to ensure the selection and application of materials and processes are appropriate to each design element with the ability to generate and/or revise specifications when necessary.
- Compose compliance matrix to meet customer specification requirements.
- Assist in producing engineering quotes to specifications or customer repair demands.
- Create Service Bulletins, Repair Schemes and Service Letters that meet the customers' modifications or repair needs.
- Responsible for communicating with customers and suppliers, translating technical information and ensuring compliance to standards and requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency utilizing Siemens NX, CATIA V5/3DX, or CREO engineering CAD software.
- Works on problems that are complex in scope where analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors to determine appropriate action.
- Ability to guide, mentor and advise other design engineering staff.
- Provide direction and serve as expert resource to other department engineers and management team.
- Function as an interface to ensure complete understanding of requirements, goals and constraints.
- Document issues and communicate to necessary departments, evaluate potential problems and provide risk assessment. Follow-up to ensure that issues have been successfully resolved.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Participate in a variety of process improvement projects.
- Will facilitate or lead teams.
- Able to support design reviews with preparation and knowledgeable presentation of review material.
- Directs work of others and acts as a lead.
- Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
- Requires a BSME, BSCE, BSAE, or a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in the Aerospace Industry or in a related field.
- Requires proficiency using CATIA V5 and must be highly competent using MS Office products.
- Strong leadership ability and excellent communication skills are necessary.

Annual Salary Range = $103,000 - $170,580
This base pay range is specific to residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Washington, and any other state that may require such disclosure. Compensation in other geographies may vary.
