Toole Design Group in Silver Spring, MD is looking to hire a motivated and talented full-time Engineer I. A Day in the Life of an Engineer I
You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You will be supporting and learning from an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from complex roadway reconstructions and vibrant urban streetscapes to iconic trail projects that celebrate and preserve the natural character of suburban and urban spaces. You use state-of-the-art tools and practices to help create sustainable, people-centered, multimodal transportation infrastructure.
You are part of a team helping shape projects that make places more connected, vibrant and fun to move through.
We are targeting a salary range of $72,000 to $82,000 for this position.
Work Schedule for an Entry Level Engineer
This full-time position typically works 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home up to 2 days per week (on Monday and Friday). The Silver Spring office of Toole Design is conveniently located close to regional trails and networks, with on-street bike infrastructure, and just a few blocks from the Silver Spring Metro Station (Red Line), MARC Station, and bus depot. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.

Requirements
Qualifications of an Engineer I:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in transportation or civil engineering or a related field
- Fundamentals of Engineering Certification (EIT), or a plan to obtain certification within two years
- Experience with or ability to quickly learn Computer Automated Design (AutoCAD or MicroStation)
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
- An interest in multimodal and active transportation design is preferred
It would be a plus if you have any of the following:
- Familiarity with design software (Civil 3D, GEOPAK, or OpenRoads)
- Knowledge of roadway geometric design or transportation analysis techniques
- Interest in learning traffic analysis software (Synchro, SIDRA)
- Prior experience at a consulting firm, public entity, non-profit or higher learning institution
- Experience conducting public outreach and engagement
