- Engineer, Principal (Process Engineer)
Description
Two openings are available for Principal Engineersone focused on Water and one on Wastewater operations. Reporting to senior leadership and working closely with plant superintendents, maintenance, and engineering teams, this role is responsible for setting process targets, monitoring performance, supporting improvement projects, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position also involves researching and applying new technologies to optimize plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor regulatory trends, assess impacts, and recommend process and equipment improvements.
Set process targets to maintain compliance with water and wastewater permit requirements.
Communicate process performance and establish early warning parameters to prevent upsets.
Review and revise sampling plans and monitoring programs for efficiency.
Manage operational databases, ensuring data quality and supporting reporting requirements.
Supervise preparation of regulatory reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Lead strategy for process monitoring instrumentation and conduct in-depth optimization analyses.
Set and track chemical and energy usage goals; test alternatives and develop specifications.
Develop seasonal process plans to balance efficiency with compliance.
Lead research initiatives and pilot programs with internal and external partners.
Provide technical input and review for capital improvement projects and engineering designs.
Serve on advisory committees for infrastructure projects and manage vendor contracts.
Develop and review standard operating procedures to support plant performance.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering.
Five years of professional engineering experience in water or wastewater treatment operations.
