Our client, a leading systematic hedge fund, is seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join its Paris-based team. This position offers the opportunity to spearhead the development of a greenfield data lakehouse solution - a strategically vital and revenue-generating initiative. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling this foundational data infrastructure. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage a range of systems, including data libraries in Python and cloud SDKs, and add value in software and infrastructure design in the AWS cloud environment.

In this position, you will use innovative trading expertise to solve the most complex financial challenges and deliver high-quality returns for investors. Your day-to-day work will involve building and scaling a global data lake solution, optimising performance, and ensuring data completeness and quality. You will also be responsible for modelling large volumes of data for OLAP databases to support tailored data solutions for Quants and Traders.

Responsibilities:

• Build a global and scalable Data Lakehouse solution used by multiple trading desks

• Data modelling within the scope of Data Lake and OLAP - large volumes and highly concurrent data access.

• Optimising the performance of the data lake as well as OLAP databases in cross-region environment.

• Contributing to software and infrastructure design and implementation in the AWS cloud environment.

• Developing data pipelines in Python using data libraries and cloud SDKs.

Requirements:

• Must come from a strong Finance background

• 5+ years of experience.

• Proven track record of building data platforms.

• Advanced Python and SQL mastery are essential.

• Proficient in AWS Cloud Environment
