Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) provides support to develop, sustain, troubleshoot, and optimize programs involving manufacture assembly. Ensures a smooth transition from various program phases (e.g. development, low-rate initial production, full rate production). Strong emphasis on continuous improvement for production programs by leading efforts to improve efficiency in production and production development operations.
Responsibilities
- Create production routers, BOMs, and manufacturing control instructions.
- Design and develop tooling, fixture, and small-scale automation solutions.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed.
- Recommend and implement long term cost reduction opportunity projects to optimize facility layouts, production lines, and assembly operations.
- Assess manufacturing problems by utilizing manufacturing methods as PFMEA and Gage R&R that results with implementing solutions.
- Develop technical requirements and broad concepts of tools and testing as they relate to the functional product.
- Evaluate assembly automation opportunities, develop a business case for equipment capital expense requests, and implement automation equipment to drive down internal cost.
- Plans and executes projects and tasks simultaneously including estimates, tracks and completes projects on time and within budget. This includes generation of schedules, budgets, business cases and project plans for complex efforts.
- Participate in MRB activities and solutions utilizing latest state of the art engineering developments and philosophies available.
- Performs root-cause analysis on product/process failures and be able to recommend and implement necessary corrective action to eliminate problem.
- Collaborate in a team environment with Quality Engineer(s)/Product Engineer(s) to ensure all required product details are assured through process controls.
- Identify and implement EHS improvements within assigned product line scope and share improvements with peers.
- Engage with customers and suppliers regarding technical details and project status.
- Leads by example and demonstrates initiative and ownership across multiple product lines.
- Supports a positive and collaborative environment by contributing to the overall success of the site.
- Communicates clearly in written form and verbally to explain their work to Site leadership Sr. management, peers, factory personnel and customers.
- Generate manufacturing work instructions, create and update assembly manuals and own management of change documentation.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) discipline.
- 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
- Highly proficient in the fundamentals of manufacturing and tooling techniques, inspection, and metrology, including use of a CMM machines.
- Highly organized, detail oriented and able to respond to change quickly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, and a strong sense of urgency for completing work on time.
- Ability to exhibit poise, composure and confidence when confronting stressful or high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work independently and to manage time effectively.
- Comprehensive understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of Pro-E CAD software, Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Electrical testing, tooling / fixture design and Electrical Connector experience is a plus.
- Experience in an MRP manufacturing environment is required (SAP preferred).
- LEAN manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Certification in IPC-610, IPC-620, or J-STD-001 is preferred.
