Job Summary:
This position will report to our Manufacturing Engineering Manager and is responsible for supporting Manufacturing and Engineering - Product Development by driving continuous improvement efforts. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Guide technical writers to produce work instructions that conform to accepted engineering practices.
- Drive the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process, acting as a liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering - Product Development.
- Utilize SolidWorks to develop design improvements, update ECN documents and design new tooling and fixturing as needed.
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Work extensively within our Infor ERP system to maintain Bills of Materials and routing times and structure.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 2 years of Manufacturing engineering experience.
- Ability to work with cross functional teams and communicate with Production and Engineering.
- Experience operating in a self-directed manner.
- Continuous Improvement philosophies, including Lean Manufacturing.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient with 3D CAD modeling using; SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer or Autodesk Inventor.
- Microsoft Office suite and other computer application skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (Infor) a plus.
- Lean Manufacturing Certification
