Senior Engineer 1, Ready Grid
Summary
The Senior Engineer 1, Ready Grid provides technical leadership in evaluating mitigation options, including traditional upgrades, non-wire alternatives, and emerging technologies for areas experiencing significant growth. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and implement proactive grid buildout strategies that align with long-term electrification and decarbonization goals.
Responsibilities
Oversee engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring, and equipment inspections, while fostering cross-functional knowledge transfer.
Lead the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful development, integration, and implementation of technologies and asset performance management strategies.
Contribute to engineering and business initiatives, including the development of innovative procedures and design recommendations.
Provide support for new equipment installation and startup, including transition to sustaining phases.
Guide junior engineers in investigating distribution system infrastructure threats based on observations and findings.
Gather and correlate data using engineering studies and procedures, including routine and diagnostic testing.
Facilitate training and professional development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Ensure protection of physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, while managing sensitive customer and proprietary data with the highest standards of integrity.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a scientific/technical/math field.
Seven or more years of engineering experience in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
Five or more years of experience in utility planning, load forecasting, or grid operations.
Strong understanding of utility infrastructure, planning, scoping, grid solutions, and regulatory frameworks.
Proficiency with system analysis tools (e.g., CYME, Python, PSLF, or load forecasting software).
Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Experience preparing detailed engineering studies and reports.
Strong written communication skills for technical reporting and management presentations.
Passion for innovation and implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance system reliability and performance.
