- Senior Professional Electrical Engineer
Description
This position performs professional electrical engineering duties in the design, plans, specifications, operation, construction, and cost estimates for power and control system projects at Minneapolis PW – Water Treatment and Distribution Services (WTDS). The role participates with higher-level engineers in the planning of electrical improvement projects and process enhancements for the Electrical and Instrumentation team. And acts as the subject matter expert on complex projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Review all engineering project documentation for standards compliance and verify WTDS electrical standards (NEC, NEC70B, NEC70E, OSHA, and internal standards for process controls, and equipment specs, etc.) are being met to maintain safety and system interoperability.
Maintain campus electrical master plan and budgeting of electrical improvement projects.
Plan and layout electrical improvement projects and process enhancements for the E&I team.
Coordinate the procurement of electrical equipment (motor starters, VFDs, Transformers, PO processing, etc.) for electrical projects.
Maintain SKM modeling software for Arc flash safety program and coordinate SKM updates with contractors for ongoing electrical projects.
Coordinate work between WTDS Operations staff and electrical contractors
Coordinate all electrical projects and outages with Xcel Energy including attending monthly WTDS Energy Team meetings, Water efficiency program and outage reporting.
Maintain Medium Voltage protection relay (SEL and Baslar) configuration files and provide programming as required for system enhancements.
Review, redline, and update electrical drawings (AutoCAD) as needed and coordinate additional drafting work with the Engineering Drafting Techs
Manage Rockwell Automation service contracts, Licensing, and AssetCenter maintenance
Manage system integration contract, and all contracted work with E & I Consultant.
Review SCADA problems from Maximo and provide technical review with WTDS Operations staff, and coordinate solutions with WTDS E&I team.
Maintain SCADA standards document and update process narratives as needed
Requirements
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (IEEE).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Five years of related experience in the design & operations of power and control systems for municipal water/sewer plants and lift stations, including one year as a Registered Professional Engineer.
EQUIVALENCY:
An equivalent combination of education and highly related experience in a similar environment may be considered.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota
