Description
The Claims Examiner – Liability, Construction is responsible for the investigation, evaluation and resolution of commercial construction general liability claims involving both bodily injury and property damage claims.
Responsibilities
Investigate, evaluate, and resolve commercial construction general liability claims.
Maintain a diary of all claims, post reserves in a timely fashion, and expeditiously respond to inquiries from the insured, counsel, underwriters, brokers, and senior management regarding claims while adhering to Arch’s handling guidelines.
Prepare and present written/oral reports to senior management setting forth all issues influencing evaluation and recommending reserves.
Lead and negotiate high severity claims through resolution.
Evaluate and assess exposure, trends and impacts both at an individual claim level and across the construction liability line of business.
Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters, and retain coverage counsel, when necessary, as well as review coverage counsel's opinion letters and analysis.
Maintain an inventory of both injury and property damage claims.
Drive results on claims with a high complexity of coverage analysis, investigation, damage assessment, and other relevant technical areas.
Execute on claims strategies to achieve claims quality, customer service and operational objectives.
Travel to and from locations within the United States to attend mediations, trials, and other proceedings relevant to the resolution of the matter.
Assist in marketing efforts, when needed, to further “sell” the Arch Claims experience.
Experience & Required Skills
Current, or ability to obtain, adjusting license across multiple states.
Exceptional communication (written and verbal), evaluating, influencing, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills to effectively develop productive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders and other professionals.
Claims litigation experience required.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Creative, out of the box thinker who refuses to accept the status quo.
Demonstrated ability to take part in active strategic discussions.
Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
Intermediate to Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Willing and able to travel 20%.
Education
Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of working experience of handling bodily injury and property damage claims nationally. Preference is construction claim handling experience.
No bachelor's degree and 10+ years working experience of handling bodily injury and property damage claims nationally. Preference is construction claims handling experience.
