Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a motivated and driven Structural Designer in Mount Pleasant, SC.
Working under the direction of a Project Manager, the candidate will be expected to be involved with projects constructed using concrete, wood, cold formed steel, masonry, structural steel, aluminum, and fiber reinforced polymer materials from concept design through permitting, structural design and construction oversight.
Typical duties include:
- Perform analysis and design of marine structures, bridges and buildings of various types, sizes and complexities, utilizing a wide range of materials
- Coordinate and work with other design disciplines.
- Create construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
- Ensure project designs are completed in accordance with a variety of building codes and local amendments
- Communicate and interact with clients regularly, providing high levels of client service.
- Assist with permitting process for state and federal applications.
- Perform condition assessments of existing structures and write reports.
- Perform construction services, including reports, site visits and responding to contractor questions.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience: One year experience through employment, internships or training.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Structural Civil Engineering. EIT Certification required
Skills:
- Experience with finite element modeling programs, primarily RISA and SAP2000.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with and/or understanding of other industry software, Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Proven ability to multi-task, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks
- Highly client service oriented, self-starter, and team player
- Ability to solve problems
- Excellent time management skills
