Description
About Civan Lasers:
Civan Lasers is a global leader in laser welding technology, specializing in Dynamic Beam Lasers (DBL) for advanced welding. Our technology enables unprecedented control over laser beam shapes and dynamics, creating new opportunities in industrial manufacturing across shipbuilding, automotive, aerospace, energy, and defense industries. As part of our growth in North America, we are looking for a welding engineer who will lead welding process development and application demonstration to prospects.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Welding Engineer to join our U.S. application lab team. This role is critical in developing and demonstrating advanced laser welding processes for customer applications. The ideal candidate will work closely with both our internal R&D team and customers, performing live demos, conducting trials, and supporting field integration efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Develop laser welding processes using Civan's DBL technology, including parameter optimization and process validation.
- Conduct demonstrations for visiting customers at the lab and explain technical benefits.
- Provide on-site process development support at customer locations and collaborate with remote application labs (occasional short-term travel required).
- Manage lab operations: order materials, maintain inventory of consumables, and ensure equipment readiness.
- Perform destructive testing (e.g., cross-sectioning) and coordinate with subcontractors for other testing when needed.
- Document results in formal reports and contribute to technical communication with customers.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer visits - including giving technical talks or presentations.
- Collaborate with the sales and applications team to support pre-sales technical discussions and customer onboarding.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on welding process development experience.
- Experience with thick-section welding and understanding of welding codes such as AWS D1.1 and ABS is a strong advantage
- Familiarity with lab tools and destructive testing techniques.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently in a dynamic environment, while collaborating effectively with a remote, cross-functional team and engaging directly with customers.
