Description

Pacific Maritime Group is seeking  an experienced Chief Engineer with a valid USCG license and a strong background in diesel-propulsion and dynamic positioning (DP) systems. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage all aspects of vessel engineering operations, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support our commitment to safe and efficient offshore operations.

Responsibilities

•  Oversee and maintain all vessel mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with a focus on diesel-  propulsion and DP systems.
•  Ensure compliance with USCG, ABS, and ISM regulatory standards.
•  Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on critical systems.
•  Monitor engine performance and fuel efficiency to optimize vessel operations.
•  Manage engineering crew, provide guidance, and ensure proper training.
•   Work closely with the captain and shore-side management to ensure operational readiness.
•   Maintain detailed records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
•   Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements

•  Valid USCG DDE 4000 or higher 
•  5+ years’ experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems.
•  Strong understanding of dynamic positioning (DP) technology.
•  Knowledge of vessel automation and control systems.
•  STCW certification preferred
•   Valid TWIC card required.
•   Previous offshore or subsea support vessel experience preferred.
•   Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands

•    Must be able to lift 50+ lbs without restrictions
•    Must frequently climb ladders, navigate steep stairs, and walk on irregular or slippery surfaces. 
•    Ability to differentiate mechanical sounds, vibrations, and visual indicators to identify system anomalies.
•    Proper heat/cold tolerance, working in all weather conditions.
•    Ability to operate and troubleshoot under high pressure.
