PEC is actively hiring Substation Engineers at Level 3 or Level 4 to support the design, construction, and protection analysis of our growing transmission and distribution infrastructure. This is complex, meaningful engineering work — and a career with serious upside at a mission-driven cooperative.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for the design and construction of complex electrical power systems and the analysis of the Cooperative’s protection systems in support of PEC’s Strategic Initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Design, manage, and construct large substation projects from concept through completion
- Perform fault studies and set relays for transformers and feeders
- Prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents
- Operate AutoCAD, ASPEN, and other engineering design tools
- Coordinate with consultants, members, developers, and government entities
- Conduct construction inspections and ensure compliance with specs and codes
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other department engineers and staff
- Stay current with NERC PRC standards and advances in substation technology
Requirements
What You Bring
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) highly preferred (direct experience may substitute)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field
- Knowledge of NERC PRC standards and substation design and construction
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ASPEN, and power system engineering tools
